Tech Milestone ยท Bahamas

First Female Solo App Developer in The Bahamas

In May 2025, I independently designed, developed, and launched a fully functional mobile application โ€” without a team, funding, or external technical support.

The Context

As of early 2026, there are no widely documented records recognizing a female solopreneur in The Bahamas independently building and launching multiple mobile applications.

Most digital products within the region are typically developed by teams, agencies, or outsourced groups. Solo development at this level remains largely undocumented.

What I Built

The application, Allure Dating App, was built end-to-end as a solo developer. This included product design, frontend and backend development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

The project was not a prototype or concept. It was a complete, working application released publicly and actively maintained after launch.

Why This Matters

This milestone reflects a shift in what is possible within smaller and underrepresented tech ecosystems. High-quality applications are no longer limited to large teams or well-funded companies.

It also contributes to the visibility of women building independently in technology within The Bahamas.

Position

Based on publicly available information at the time of writing, this work positions me among the first โ€” and potentially the first โ€” female solo developers in The Bahamas to design, build, and launch multiple mobile applications independently.
